In short, this means how easy Icedrive and Google Drive are to install, set up, learn and use. Next up for our comparison is a look at usability. Photos captured with a smartphone though are practically identical to their original version even after the downgrade. If you take your photos with a high-end camera, this downgrade might be quite noticeable.

The best part about storing your photos with Google Drive is the fact that you can get unlimited storage for them, completely free of charge, though at a slightly lower resolution.
If the main thing you want out of your cloud storage is a way to secure and share your photos, then Google Drive is one of the best online storage for photos, despite not technically being an online backup service. This greatly increases the potential functionality within Google Drive. This ranges from small applications to major plugins with online collaboration tools, such as Asana.

In typical Google fashion, there’s also a ton of third-party applications that you can download and install from the marketplace. There are thousands of third-party add-ons in the Google marketplace. This last one is the most unusual, as the web dashboard includes a fully fledged media player to let you stream videos directly from the cloud. This includes documents, text files, images and even videos. This allows you to view many different types of files in the cloud without having to download them first. As such, there’s not that much to cover here, but there are still a few nice things worth mentioning.įoremost among them is the excellent file preview system. Starting with Icedrive, the new service clearly opts for a simple and streamlined user experience rather than overloading the user with tons of advanced functionality. That leaves extra functionality such as file previews and collaboration tools for this round.
